Summer Blood Drive Hosted at Windom Area Health

Windom, MN – Windom Area Health and Community Blood Bank will hold a summer blood drive Monday, July 10th between 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Windom Area Health. The public will have an opportunity to donate blood to help local patients in need and assist in preventing a summer blood shortage. Donors can schedule an appointment by clicking here, by logging onto www.cbblifeblood.org, selecting “events”, July 10, and Windom Area Health or call 605-331-3222. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are encouraged. All who donate will receive a $10 D.Q. gift card as a thank you.

“Summer is an unpredictable time when it comes to blood usage. With so many summer activities going on, people taking summer vacation and traveling more, as well as an increase potential for traumas, blood supplies can be depleted very quickly based upon the situation,” states Ken Versteeg, Executive Director, Community Blood Bank. “It only takes 30 minutes to provide life to three patients in the local area. We are asking donors to consider taking the time to ensure we avoid a summer blood shortage by giving blood at the Windom Area Health Summer Blood Drive on July 10th.”

Donors must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with a signed parent consent form found at www.cbblifeblood.org), weigh 110 lbs or more and be in good general health the day of the donation. Please bring an I.D. It is recommended that a person eat and drink plenty of fluid prior to donating.  For more information log onto www.cbblifeblood.org or call Community Blood Bank at (605) 331-3222.  Community Blood Banks is a nonprofit, cooperative of Sanford Medical Center and Avera McKennan Hospital and sole blood provider to Windom Area Health and 35 other local hospitals. Community Blood Bank is not associated with any other blood bank organizations.
