Job Openings

Surgery Technologist (PRN)

Windom Area Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to work on an as needed basis.  Responsibilities include providing superior patient care through surgery, procedures, and central supply activities. Supports clinics and follow-up visits. May take call.  Must be a graduate of accredited surgical tech program.  Experience and AST certification preferred. Ortho experience helpful.

Radiologic Technologist

Windom Area Health is seeking a Radiologic Technologist (RT) in our imaging department to perform exams including x-ray, CT, mammography, DEXA, and fluoroscopy. Must be ARRT registered or registry eligible. Mammography experience preferred. Up to 32 hours a week depending on qualifications. Shifts include days/weekends, and rotating call on weekends, holidays and nights (typically every 4th weekend). Benefit eligible including health, vision, flex, PTO/SICK, PERA/retirement, and more!

Health Unit Coordinator

Windom Area Health is seeking a full-time Health Unit Coordinator in our nursing unit (.9 FTE). The position serves as a multipurpose support to the nursing staff; assisting with patient care, registering patients, cleaning instruments, stocking, answering phones and greeting visitors. CNA, Medical Assistant or medical secretary background preferred, but not required. Experience in healthcare preferred. This position will work a combination of days/evenings, and rotating weekends and holidays. 

Weekend Package - Registered Nurse (RN)

Windom Area Health is seeking a RN that will work 12-hour shifts Friday, Saturday & Sunday for 5 of 6 weekends. Work 36 hrs, get paid for 40! Full time benefits provided. Ability to pick up additional shifts as desired. This position will provide patient care in our inpatient and ER departments. May occasionally provide support to outpatients, and eventually train to cover OB. Experience preferred, but will train qualified applicants.  Upcoming grads welcome to apply.

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) PRN

We are looking for a Licensed Practical Nurse to work on a casual basis (PRN) to provide superior and compassionate care to our wound patients in the Wound & Hyperbaric Healing Center. Under the direction of the Nurse Manager the LPN will provide wound related patient care including intake and discharge with some HBO coverage. Minimum of a LPN license required and wound care experience preferred but not required. Upcoming grads welcome to apply!

Windom Area Health has openings in their nursing department, to provide excellent patient care to our inpatient, OB, and ER departments. Licensed LPNs within 1 year of completion of their RN are welcome to apply and work as an LPN until completion of degree/boards, at which time the position would convert into an RN position.  Position includes working 12 hr shifts every third weekend and holiday, as well as 8 hr weekday rotating shifts. 

Registered Nurse (RN)

Windom Area Health has openings for a Registered Nurse who will provide patient care to our inpatient, OB, and ER departments. Experience preferred, but will train qualified applicants. Licensed LPNs within 1 year of completion of their RN are welcome to apply and work as an LPN until completion of degree/boards. Position includes working 12 hr shifts every third weekend and holiday, as well as 8 hr weekday rotating shifts.  We currently have two .7 FTE positions open. Candidates can expect an RN wage of $33.75 or higher, based on experience.

Group Fitness Instructor

We are seeking an outgoing individual to teach group fitness classes in the Wellness Center and provide member support. Duties include creating and teaching group fitness classes, assisting with memberships, providing basic fitness information, and resolving complaints. May assist with wellness department activities and special events as needed. Flexible hours are available and may include mornings, afternoons and evenings, Monday through Friday. Qualified candidates must have experience teaching group fitness classes, the ability to communicate well in person and over the phone, and lift up to 25 lbs. Basic computer skills are required for daily operations. Must obtain Basic Life Support Certification within six months of hire. This position may be eligible for retirement, PTO, free Wellness Center membership, and other benefits.

Community Health Intern

We are seeking community minded individuals that can apply their unique understanding of the experience, language, and/or culture to communicate comprehensive health programs to the Hispanic community in Windom. The Community Health Promoter will help community members and their family’s access and navigate community services, resources, and adopt healthy behaviors. A primary focus of the internship will consist of working with local farmers markets to increase access to healthy foods, address food insecurity, and integrate health programs and resources within the community.   The Community Health Promotor must be able to communicate effectively, both in English and Spanish, and be a trusted source within the community. Other internship duties include written and oral translation, creating health education materials, community event planning, wellness center activities, and other duties as assigned. Interested students should be in high school or enrolled in a secondary education institution. Pay rate is $10.08 per hour. 

Surgery Manager

Windom Area Health is seeking a full-time Surgery Manager to provide leadership for our surgery department.  This position leads the department’s clinical, operational and managerial activities to provide safe and effective patient care.  Bachelor’s degree in nursing required. A minimum of 5  years of OR experience required but would consider a combination of 3 years surgery experience with 2-3 years tertiary ICU and/or ER experience. A minimum of two years of proven healthcare leadership required. Must be willing to fill in for on-call after hours, holidays, and weekends and respond within designated time when needs require. 

IT Technician

Windom Area Health is seeking a full-time IT Technician. Responsibilities include computer and hardware set-up and maintenance, software updates, troubleshooting, addressing staff inquiries and submitting access requests. Will perform basic network functions, as well as configuring and maintaining phone server and devices.  High school diploma required. Computer and networking skills required. Additional training/education in an IT field highly preferred but will train the right candidate. Experience in healthcare IT highly desirable. Candidates can expect a wage of $20.64 or higher.

Benefit Summary

Paid Time Off (PTO) Time off with pay is accrued for personal (vacation, holiday, illness, or other) needs. PTO accumulates from the date of hire and may be used only after the Orientation period is complete. A limit of 320 hours can be carried at any time. Once an employee reaches that level, they will stop accruing PTO until time is used. For purposes of the table below, one year of service is the equivalent of 2,080 hours paid.

Sick Leave Bank

Accrued bank of hours to be used for illness related to you or an eligible family member, lasting 2 or more days. Sick bank hours accumulate based on hours paid and can be carried over with a maximum accrual of 960 hours. The accrual rate is .0192 per hour paid. Sick Leave Bank hours may not be used until the Orientation period is complete.

Bereavement Leave

Full-time and regular part-time employees are eligible to receive bereavement leave. Days provided differ based on family relationship.

Holiday Pay

Time and one-half (1 ½) an employee’s regular rate of pay will be paid to any employee working on a designated holiday observance including New Year’s Day (1/1), Good Friday, Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, Independence Day (7/4), Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day (12/25).

Health Insurance

Windom Area Health provides health insurance through Medica. Coverage options include single, single + spouse, single + child(ren) and family coverage. WAH pays 75% – 80% of the total premium for full-time employees and regular part-time employees. Full-time employees are eligible for health insurance on the first day of the month following 30 days of employment. Part-time employees are eligible on the first day of the month following 60 days of employment. Open enrollment occurs once each year (normally in November).

Dental Insurance

Windom Area Health provides 100% of the cost of dental insurance for full-time employees.  Employees are able to 'buy up' for family members or for richer dental plan coverage. FT employees are eligible on the first of the month after 30 days.

Vision Insurance

Windom Area Health provides vision insurance through EyeMed. Coverage options include employee, employee + 1, employee + children and family coverage.  Full time employees are eligible for vision insurance on the first day of the month following 30 days of employment.  Part time employees are eligible on the first day of the month following 60 days of employment.

Life Insurance

Life insurance options are provided through Hartford. Employees have a guaranteed issue of $100,000 and can obtain up to $300,000 of coverage based on medical underwriting. Spouse and dependent coverage is also available. Costs vary depending on age and amount elected.

Supplemental Insurance

AFLAC provides a variety of insurance options. AFLAC insurance options include, but are not limited to, short-term disability, cancer protection, accident insurance, life insurance, and dental insurance.

FLEX Spending

The FSA is a pre-tax savings plan for unreimbursed medical or dependent (child or elderly) care expenses. WAH matches employee contributions into the medical plan up to $10/month for full time and $5/month for regular part-time employees.

Legal/ID Shield

A legal assistance and identify theft protection plans are offered (separate or together) at the employee’s cost for part-time and full-time staff.


Public Employee Retirement Association (PERA) is a mandatory retirement savings plan required because of WAH’s municipal status. Both WAH and the employee contribute to this retirement savings plan. As of 1/1/12, employees contribute 6.5% of their gross earnings and WAH contributes 7.5% of the employee’s gross earnings. Retirement benefits are based on years of service and your age at retirement.

MN State Deferred Compensation

Employees may contribute up to 50% of annual taxable income or $18,000 whichever is less. Employees over age 50 can contribute even more. Employees choose investment options, and pre- and after-tax options are available.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

The EAP is a confidential counseling service available to all employees and their family members. EAP services are contracted through VitalWorkLife Solutions. Contact 1-800-383-1908 for up to three (per incident, per family) free and confidential appointments.

Financing Clinic & Hospital Bills

WAH employees may designate funds to pay hospital/clinic bills through after-tax payroll deductions.

Wellness Center

Employees receive a 20% discount on memberships. Employees may have their membership paid through payroll deduction. Employee members that use the center 12 times per month will receive reimbursement either through insurance or the fitness center.

Physical Therapy Consultation

WAH employees may seek a complimentary evaluation from the Physical Therapy staff. Subsequent treatments for a medical concern must be ordered by a physician and will be charged as an outpatient procedure.

Job Shadowing

Windom Area Health supports the development of local students interested in, or entering the healthcare industry. When possible, we will provide local students observation and job shadowing experiences upon request.
