Job Openings

Registered Nurse (RN)

Windom Area Hospital is seeking an RN (.8 FTE), who will provide patient care to our inpatient, OB, and ER departments. Experience preferred, but will train qualified applicants.  Position includes working 12 hr shifts every third weekend and holiday, as well as 8 hr weekday rotating shifts.  Flexible schedule is necessary, as position includes working mainly nights and occasional day or evening shifts.

Accountant

Windom Area Health seeks a full time Accountant to join our team. This position will focus on reconciling financial transactions, preparing financial statements and reports, assisting with annual budgeting and forecasting, working on the external audit, annual cost report, and year-end closing activities and providing back-up support for AP. Candidates should have a Bachelors degree in accounting or finance, with 2+ years’ experience in accounting required. CPA and experience working in healthcare a plus.

Medical Records Coder

Windom Area Health is seeking a self-directed and highly motivated individual for a full-time Medical Records Coder position.  Qualified candidates will be credentialed as an RHIT or CCS, or achieve designation within 6 months.  Candidates must have knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD-10-CM/PCS, various medical specialties and familiarity with working on claim denials.  The position is responsible for managing and coding a variety of outpatient and inpatient records using ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT coding systems, obtaining admission certification from third party payers for inpatient admissions, conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis, and computing statistical reports.  Work from home options available, after training period.

Patient Access Representative

Windom Area Health is seeking a full-time Patient Access Representative to provide excellent customer service to patients. Primary role includes conducting prior authorizations. This position will also be trained to register/pre-register patients, follow up on patient information, schedule appointments and provide ER registration desk coverage. Applicants must have a high school diploma. Previous experience in a health care setting is required, or the equivalent in a medical related degree. Hours are typically weekday, but evening or weekend hours may occasionally be required.

Patient Access Representative - Part-time Weekends

Windom Area Health has an opening for a part-time Patient Access Representative to work a rotating weekend and holiday schedule.  Duties include patient screening & registration, computer data entry, switchboard operation, clerical tasks and customer reception.  Qualified applicants must have excellent organizational and communication skills and be detail oriented. Computer experience and medical office background is strongly preferred. Hours would be 7:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. every third weekend and every third holiday. Great 2nd job!

Front Office Specialist

As a key member of the Wound & Hyperbaric Healing Center care team, the part-time Front Office Specialist performs a wide variety of duties including patient scheduling, insurance prior authorization and processing, entering charges and other data entry, greeting patients and answering phones, and coordinating patient care with the wound center team and other hospital departments. This position will also assist nursing staff in rooming patients and attending to other patient care and clinic needs.  This position will be scheduled approximately 24 hours per week and is benefit eligible, including PERA. Candidates must have a high school diploma/equivalent, computer literacy, be highly skilled in verbal/written communication, and have at least 6 months of similar office or healthcare experience.  

Medical Screeners - Immediate Full-Time & Part-Time Openings

Windom Area Health is seeking Medical Screeners. Primary duties will be to temperature screen all individuals entering facility, complete screening questionnaire, direct or escort patients, practice current health and safety protocols including personal protective equipment requirements.  Applicants must be at least 16 years of age and have strong communication skills. These positions will be temporary, but needed for at least the upcoming summer/fall/winter months. Flexible hours available, up to 40 per week. Primarily weekday hours (6am – 6pm), but some weekend hours may be available. $10/hr

Health Unit Coordinator

Windom Area Health is seeking a full-time Health Unit Coordinator in our nursing unit (.9 FTE). The position serves as a multipurpose support to the nursing staff; assisting with patient care, registering patients, cleaning instruments, stocking, answering phones and greeting visitors. CNA, Medical Assistant or medical secretary background preferred, but not required. Experience in healthcare preferred. This position will work a combination of days/evenings, and rotating weekends and holidays. 

Benefit Summary

Paid Time Off (PTO) Time off with pay is accrued for personal (vacation, holiday, illness, or other) needs. PTO accumulates from the date of hire and may be used only after the Orientation period is complete. A limit of 320 hours can be carried at any time. Once an employee reaches that level, they will stop accruing PTO until time is used. For purposes of the table below, one year of service is the equivalent of 2,080 hours paid.

Sick Leave Bank

Accrued bank of hours to be used for illness related to you or an eligible family member, lasting 2 or more days. Sick bank hours accumulate based on hours paid and can be carried over with a maximum accrual of 960 hours. The accrual rate is .0192 per hour paid. Sick Leave Bank hours may not be used until the Orientation period is complete.

Bereavement Leave

Full-time and regular part-time employees are eligible to receive bereavement leave. Days provided differ based on family relationship.

Holiday Pay

Time and one-half (1 ½) an employee’s regular rate of pay will be paid to any employee working on a designated holiday observance including New Year’s Day (1/1), Good Friday, Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, Independence Day (7/4), Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day (12/25).

Health Insurance

Windom Area Health provides health insurance through Medica. Coverage options include single, single + spouse, single + child(ren) and family coverage. WAH pays 75% – 80% of the total premium for full-time employees and regular part-time employees. Full-time employees are eligible for health insurance on the first day of the month following 30 days of employment. Part-time employees are eligible on the first day of the month following 60 days of employment. Open enrollment occurs once each year (normally in November).

Dental Insurance

Windom Area Health provides 100% of the cost of dental insurance for full-time employees.  Employees are able to 'buy up' for family members or for richer dental plan coverage. FT employees are eligible on the first of the month after 30 days.

Vision Insurance

Windom Area Health provides vision insurance through EyeMed. Coverage options include employee, employee + 1, employee + children and family coverage.  Full time employees are eligible for vision insurance on the first day of the month following 30 days of employment.  Part time employees are eligible on the first day of the month following 60 days of employment.

Life Insurance

Life insurance options are provided through Hartford. Employees have a guaranteed issue of $100,000 and can obtain up to $300,000 of coverage based on medical underwriting. Spouse and dependent coverage is also available. Costs vary depending on age and amount elected.

Supplemental Insurance

AFLAC provides a variety of insurance options. AFLAC insurance options include, but are not limited to, short-term disability, cancer protection, accident insurance, life insurance, and dental insurance.

FLEX Spending

The FSA is a pre-tax savings plan for unreimbursed medical or dependent (child or elderly) care expenses. WAH matches employee contributions into the medical plan up to $10/month for full time and $5/month for regular part-time employees.

Legal/ID Shield

A legal assistance and identify theft protection plans are offered (separate or together) at the employee’s cost for part-time and full-time staff.

PERA

Public Employee Retirement Association (PERA) is a mandatory retirement savings plan required because of WAH’s municipal status. Both WAH and the employee contribute to this retirement savings plan. As of 1/1/12, employees contribute 6.5% of their gross earnings and WAH contributes 7.5% of the employee’s gross earnings. Retirement benefits are based on years of service and your age at retirement.

MN State Deferred Compensation

Employees may contribute up to 50% of annual taxable income or $18,000 whichever is less. Employees over age 50 can contribute even more. Employees choose investment options, and pre- and after-tax options are available.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

The EAP is a confidential counseling service available to all employees and their family members. EAP services are contracted through VitalWorkLife Solutions. Contact 1-800-383-1908 for up to three (per incident, per family) free and confidential appointments.

Financing Clinic & Hospital Bills

WAH employees may designate funds to pay hospital/clinic bills through after-tax payroll deductions.

Wellness Center

Employees receive a 20% discount on memberships. Employees may have their membership paid through payroll deduction. Employee members that use the center 12 times per month will receive reimbursement either through insurance or the fitness center.

Physical Therapy Consultation

WAH employees may seek a complimentary evaluation from the Physical Therapy staff. Subsequent treatments for a medical concern must be ordered by a physician and will be charged as an outpatient procedure.

Job Shadowing

Windom Area Health supports the development of local students interested in, or entering the healthcare industry. When possible, we will provide local students observation and job shadowing experiences upon request.
