Job Openings

Registered Nurse (RN)

Windom Area Health has openings for Registered Nurses, who will provide patient care at our Critical Access Hospital. Nurses at Windom Area Health are well rounded, and provide care to our inpatient, ER, and OB departments. Work with patients/families and providers to develop and carry out plans of care, while communicating to increase understanding and collaboration. Work with your team of fellow RNs, LPNs, and Health Unit Coordinators to provide safe, competent, and effective patient care. New grads welcome to apply, we will train.  Position includes working every third weekend and holiday. 12 hour shifts on the weekends, choice of 8 or 12 hour shifts during the week. Occasional ambulance transfers required. BLS, ACLS required. We will work with employees to obtain their NRP, and either TNCC or CALS. Generous PTO program, health/dental,  7.5% match for retirement, and tuition reimbursement of up to $6,000 for advanced degrees.

Registered Nurse (RN)/Outpatient Nurse

Windom Area Health seeks a .9 FTE RN/Outpatient Nurse. This position will perform chemotherapy, injections, IV infusions and work on the expansion of the telemedicine program. Individual must have some flexibility in work hours to meet the needs of outpatients. Position includes working 12 hr shifts every third weekend and holiday.

Nursing Supervisor

Windom Area Health is seeking a full-time Nursing Supervisor to provide first-line supervision on fiscal, human resource, clinical practice, information systems and performance improvement measures to the nursing department. Acts as a resource for nurses related to patient care, policy, and staffing. Acts a liaison between nursing and management, balancing priorities of the organization and department culture. Ensures programs are implemented and focused on improving operational efficiencies and effectiveness.  Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN required. Current licensure to practice in the state of Minnesota as a Registered Nurse (RN). Minimum of 5 years experience in an acute-care hospital, with 2+ years’ leadership experience preferred.

Full-time, primarily Monday-Friday. Must be available to work 50% day shift and 50% evening shift. Occasional availability on night and weekend shifts recommended.

Paramedic

Windom Area Health is seeking a .9 FTE Paramedic to join our team.  Applicants must be able to perform and manage patient care during ambulance transfers, in the ED, and other departments as needed and have good communication skills. Completion of an accredited Paramedic Training Program, BLS, ACLS, NRP credentials required. A high school diploma or equivalent is required; Associates Degree in Paramedic Technology or Paramedicine preferred. Position shift will be 7pm-7am, rotating every 3rd weekend/holiday.

Radiologic Technologist

Windom Area Health is seeking a .6 FTE Radiologic Technologist (RT) in our imaging department to perform exams including x-ray, CT, mammography, DEXA, and fluoroscopy. Must be ARRT registered or registry eligible. Mammography experience preferred. Shifts include days/weekends, and rotating call on weekends, holidays and nights (typically every 5th weekend). Benefit eligible including health, vision, flex, PTO/SICK, PERA/retirement, and more!

Front Office Specialist

As a key member of the Wound & Hyperbaric Healing Center care team, the Front Office Specialist performs a wide variety of duties including patient scheduling, insurance prior authorization and processing, entering charges and other data entry, billing reconciliation, greeting patients and answering phones, and coordinating patient care with the wound center team and other hospital departments. This .8 FTE position will also support similar duties in a backup capacity in other departments, assist nursing staff in rooming patients and attending to other patient care and clinic needs.  Candidates must have a high school diploma/equivalent, computer literacy, be highly skilled in verbal/written communication, enjoy working in a fast-paced and busy environment, and have at least 6 months of similar billing/registration or healthcare experience.

Medical Records Coder

Windom Area Health is seeking a self-directed and highly motivated individual for a full-time Medical Records Coder position. The position is responsible for managing and coding a variety of outpatient and inpatient records using ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT coding systems, obtaining admission certification from third party payers for inpatient admissions, conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis, and computing statistical reports. Qualified candidates must be credentialed as an RHIT, CPC, or CCS, or achieve designation within 6 months. Candidates must have knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and familiarity with working on claim denials. Weekday hours. Work from home options available, after training period.

Senior Billing Specialist

Windom Area Health is looking for a skilled Senior Billing Specialist to work full-time as the subject matter expert in healthcare billing for the organization. In this role you will process complex hospital and professional claims, follow up on denials, oversee established collection and financial assistance processes, train other hospital staff on necessary steps to ensure appropriate and successful billing, and develops policies to achieve timely reimbursements. May provide work direction to billing and collection staff.  Candidates should have a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in health insurance billing, preferably in a Critical Access Hospital environment. Associates degree required, bachelors degree preferred in healthcare management, business/accounting, or related field. Partial remote work available after training.

Patient Account Representative/Biller

Windom Area Health seeks a highly motivated individual for a full time Patient Account Representative role. Specific areas of responsibilities include claims submissions, payment posting, patient accounts receivable, non-patient accounts receivable, collections, and reimbursement management. Applicants must have a minimum of a high school diploma.  Minimum one year of previous experience in a healthcare office environment, health insurance billing, registration, or coding. Coursework in accounting or healthcare support (i.e. coding, billing, medical secretary) preferred. Potential for remote work after training period.

Compliance & Credentialing Specialist

Windom Area Health is looking for an experienced Compliance & Credentialing Specialist to work full-time for our growing organization. This position ensures compliance with regulatory and accreditation agency standards through monitoring and audits, develops and implements compliance programs and policies, and completes all provider and payor credentialing processes. Acts as the Compliance and Privacy Officer. Candidates should have a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in credentialing, billing, coding or other related business function, preferably in a Critical Access Hospital environment. Associates degree required, bachelors degree preferred in healthcare, business, or related field. Partial remote work available after training.

Patient Access Representative - Registration

Windom Area Hospital seeks a full-time Patient Access Representative to provide excellent customer service to patients. Primary roles include registering patients, following up on patient information, pre-registering, scheduling patient visits, tests and procedures, and front desk coverage. Candidates must have a high school diploma/equivalent, computer literacy, be highly skilled in verbal/written communication, enjoy working in a fast-paced and busy environment, and have at least 6 months of similar billing/registration or healthcare office experience. Patient Access Representative - Scheduling

Windom Area Health is seeking a full-time Patient Access Representative to provide excellent customer service to patients. Primary role includes scheduling patient visits, tests and procedures. This position will perform prior authorization on select services. Applicants must have a high school diploma. Previous experience in a health care setting is required, or the equivalent in a medical related degree. Week day hours. Environmental Services Technician

Windom Area Health is seeking a full-time Environmental Services Technician to perform cleaning, upkeep and sanitary duties in both clinical and non-clinical areas of the hospital. This position includes rotating days (6:30 am to 3 pm) and evenings (11 am to 7:30pm), as well rotating holidays (approx. 1-2 year) and weekends (every 5th). Prior housekeeping experience is preferred. Dietary Aide/Cook

Windom Area Health seeks a full-time Dietary Aide/Cook to work 32-40 hours per week. Duties include food preparation, cooking, dishwashing and departmental cleaning.  Previous experience in food preparation is preferred. Must have a flexible schedule, excellent customer service and teamwork skills, ability to multi-task, be ambitious and self-directed. The position includes day and evening shifts, and rotating weekends and holidays. Benefit eligible!

Benefit Summary

Paid Time Off (PTO) Time off with pay is accrued for personal (vacation, holiday, illness, or other) needs. PTO accumulates from the date of hire and may be used only after the Orientation period is complete. A limit of 320 hours can be carried at any time. Once an employee reaches that level, they will stop accruing PTO until time is used. For purposes of the table below, one year of service is the equivalent of 2,080 hours paid.

Sick Leave Bank

Accrued bank of hours to be used for illness related to you or an eligible family member, lasting 2 or more days. Sick bank hours accumulate based on hours paid and can be carried over with a maximum accrual of 960 hours. The accrual rate is .0192 per hour paid. Sick Leave Bank hours may not be used until the Orientation period is complete.

Bereavement Leave

Full-time and regular part-time employees are eligible to receive bereavement leave. Days provided differ based on family relationship.

Holiday Pay

Time and one-half (1 ½) an employee’s regular rate of pay will be paid to any employee working on a designated holiday observance including New Year’s Day (1/1), Good Friday, Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, Independence Day (7/4), Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day (12/25).

Health Insurance

Windom Area Health provides health insurance through Medica. Coverage options include single, single + spouse, single + child(ren) and family coverage. WAH pays 75% – 80% of the total premium for full-time employees and regular part-time employees. Full-time employees are eligible for health insurance on the first day of the month following 30 days of employment. Part-time employees are eligible on the first day of the month following 60 days of employment. Open enrollment occurs once each year (normally in November).

Dental Insurance

Windom Area Health provides 100% of the cost of dental insurance for full-time employees.  Employees are able to 'buy up' for family members or for richer dental plan coverage. FT employees are eligible on the first of the month after 30 days.

Vision Insurance

Windom Area Health provides vision insurance through EyeMed. Coverage options include employee, employee + 1, employee + children and family coverage.  Full time employees are eligible for vision insurance on the first day of the month following 30 days of employment.  Part time employees are eligible on the first day of the month following 60 days of employment.

Life Insurance

Life insurance options are provided through Hartford. Employees have a guaranteed issue of $100,000 and can obtain up to $300,000 of coverage based on medical underwriting. Spouse and dependent coverage is also available. Costs vary depending on age and amount elected.

Supplemental Insurance

AFLAC provides a variety of insurance options. AFLAC insurance options include, but are not limited to, short-term disability, cancer protection, accident insurance, life insurance, and dental insurance.

FLEX Spending

The FSA is a pre-tax savings plan for unreimbursed medical or dependent (child or elderly) care expenses. WAH matches employee contributions into the medical plan up to $10/month for full time and $5/month for regular part-time employees.

Legal/ID Shield

A legal assistance and identify theft protection plans are offered (separate or together) at the employee’s cost for part-time and full-time staff.

PERA

Public Employee Retirement Association (PERA) is a mandatory retirement savings plan required because of WAH’s municipal status. Both WAH and the employee contribute to this retirement savings plan. As of 1/1/12, employees contribute 6.5% of their gross earnings and WAH contributes 7.5% of the employee’s gross earnings. Retirement benefits are based on years of service and your age at retirement.

MN State Deferred Compensation

Employees may contribute up to 50% of annual taxable income or $18,000 whichever is less. Employees over age 50 can contribute even more. Employees choose investment options, and pre- and after-tax options are available.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

The EAP is a confidential counseling service available to all employees and their family members. EAP services are contracted through VitalWorkLife Solutions. Contact 1-800-383-1908 for up to three (per incident, per family) free and confidential appointments.

Financing Clinic & Hospital Bills

WAH employees may designate funds to pay hospital/clinic bills through after-tax payroll deductions.

Wellness Center

Employees receive a 20% discount on memberships. Employees may have their membership paid through payroll deduction. Employee members that use the center 12 times per month will receive reimbursement either through insurance or the fitness center.

Physical Therapy Consultation

WAH employees may seek a complimentary evaluation from the Physical Therapy staff. Subsequent treatments for a medical concern must be ordered by a physician and will be charged as an outpatient procedure.

Job Shadowing

Windom Area Health supports the development of local students interested in, or entering the healthcare industry. When possible, we will provide local students observation and job shadowing experiences upon request.
