Job Openings

Registered Nurse (RN)

Windom Area Health has openings for Registered Nurses, 0.9 FTE, who will provide patient care at our Critical Access Hospital. Nurses at Windom Area Health are well rounded, and provide care to our inpatient, ER, and OB departments. Work with patients/families and providers to develop and carry out plans of care, while communicating to increase understanding and collaboration. Work with your team of fellow RNs, LPNs, and Health Unit Coordinators to provide safe, competent, and effective patient care. New grads welcome to apply, we will train.  Position includes working every third weekend and holiday. 12 hour shifts on the weekends, choice of 8 or 12 hour shifts during the week. Occasional ambulance transfers required. BLS, ACLS required. We will work with employees to obtain their NRP, and either TNCC or CALS. Generous PTO program, health/dental,  7.5% match for retirement, and tuition reimbursement of up to $6,000 for advanced degrees.

LPN/Certified Medical Assistant – Specialty Clinics

Windom Area Health is seeking a .8 FTE LPN or Certified Medical Assistant to provide direct patient care and support services to specialty and outpatient providers.  Duties include providing assistance rooming patients, telemedicine visits, and assisting with Specialty Clinics Coordinators and the Scheduling department. Strong computer and organizational skills are essential with a dedication to quality care.  LPN candidate must have current MN LPN license. MA candidate must have CMA or RMA certification. One year of clinic experience and technical training preferred.  Position is primarily Monday – Friday with occasional commitments on evenings or weekends.

Diabetes Care and Education Specialist

Windom Area Health has an opening for a full-time Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist. The primary focus of this role is diabetic education, evaluation and planned patient care, program development, and community outreach.  Also, will act as back-up of admission and discharge planning.  A Bachelor’s degree in nursing is required with at least 2 years related experience preferred. RN, BLS, ACLS, RN-Educator within 1 year of hire required, Board Certified Diabetic Educator or Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) preferred, or ability to obtain within 3 years. Shifts will be mostly weekday hours with occasional commitments on evenings and weekends.

Behavioral Health CNP

Windom Area Health is seeking a Behavioral Health CNP to join our growing Outpatient and Specialty Clinics team and will be integrated with the Walk-In Mental Health Clinic. Candidate will provide compassionate, high quality psychiatric diagnostic assessments, handle medication management, and make urgent assessments of persons in crisis.  A Master’s or Doctorate degree in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing, and an active State of MN license is required.   Candidates with at least one year of experience treating adults, adolescents, and children; and meet criteria/qualifications for independent practice are strongly preferred.  Part-time or full-time hours are available. Schedule will be Monday – Friday with occasional evening/weekend commitments.

Paramedic

Windom Area Health is seeking a part-time or full-time Paramedic to join our team.  Applicants must be able to perform and manage patient care during ambulance transfers, in the ED, and other departments as needed and have good communication skills. Completion of an accredited Paramedic Training Program, BLS, ACLS, NRP credentials required. A high school diploma or equivalent is required; Associates Degree in Paramedic Technology or Paramedicine preferred. Rotating 8 or 12 hour shifts, rotating every 3rd weekend/holiday.

Radiologic Technologist

Windom Area Health is seeking a FT Radiologic Technologist (RT) in our imaging department to perform exams including x-ray, CT, mammography, DEXA, and fluoroscopy. Must be ARRT registered or registry eligible. Mammography experience preferred. Shifts include days/weekends, and rotating call on weekends, holidays and nights (typically every 5th weekend). Benefit eligible including health, vision, flex, PTO/SICK, PERA/retirement, and more!

Surgery Technologist

Windom Area Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist (.8 FTE).  Responsibilities include providing superior patient care through surgery, procedures, and central supply activities. Supports clinics and follow-up visits. May take call.  Must be graduate of accredited surgical tech program.  Experience and AST certification preferred. Ortho experience helpful.

Sterilization Technician

Windom Area Health is seeking a .7 FTE Sterilization Technician to join our surgery team.  The Sterilization Technician will play a crucial role in assisting with the sterilization of medical instruments and equipment and be responsible for ensuring compliance and upholding our commitment to patient safety.  Responsibilities will include assisting with basic preoperative and postoperative patient care and collaborating with the surgical team to ensure efficient flow of information and materials.  A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with a CNA, MA, or Certification of Sterile Processing Technician preferred.  Hours will be day shift with no call.  Benefit eligible!

Benefit Summary

Paid Time Off (PTO) Time off with pay is accrued for personal (vacation, holiday, illness, or other) needs. PTO accumulates from the date of hire and may be used only after the Orientation period is complete. A limit of 320 hours can be carried at any time. Once an employee reaches that level, they will stop accruing PTO until time is used. For purposes of the table below, one year of service is the equivalent of 2,080 hours paid.

Sick Leave Bank

Accrued bank of hours to be used for illness related to you or an eligible family member, lasting 2 or more days. Sick bank hours accumulate based on hours paid and can be carried over with a maximum accrual of 960 hours. The accrual rate is .0192 per hour paid. Sick Leave Bank hours may not be used until the Orientation period is complete.

Bereavement Leave

Full-time and regular part-time employees are eligible to receive bereavement leave. Days provided differ based on family relationship.

Holiday Pay

Time and one-half (1 ½) an employee’s regular rate of pay will be paid to any employee working on a designated holiday observance including New Year’s Day (1/1), Good Friday, Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, Independence Day (7/4), Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day (12/25).

Health Insurance

Windom Area Health provides health insurance through Medica. Coverage options include a co-pay plan and a high deductible health plan option. Each plan has single, single + spouse, single + child(ren) and family coverage. WAH pays 75% – 80% of the total premium for full-time employees and regular part-time employees. Full-time employees are eligible for health insurance on the first day of the month following 30 days of employment. Part-time employees are eligible on the first day of the month following 60 days of employment. Open enrollment occurs once each year (normally in November).

Dental Insurance

Windom Area Health provides 100% of the cost of dental insurance for full-time employees.  Employees are able to 'buy up' for family members or for richer dental plan coverage. FT employees are eligible on the first of the month after 30 days.

Vision Insurance

Windom Area Health provides vision insurance through EyeMed. Coverage options include employee, employee + 1, employee + children and family coverage.  Full time employees are eligible for vision insurance on the first day of the month following 30 days of employment.  Part time employees are eligible on the first day of the month following 60 days of employment.

Life Insurance

Life insurance options are provided through Hartford. Employees have a guaranteed issue of $100,000 and can obtain up to $300,000 of coverage based on medical underwriting. Spouse and dependent coverage is also available. Costs vary depending on age and amount elected.

Supplemental Insurance

AFLAC provides a variety of insurance options. AFLAC insurance options include, but are not limited to, short-term disability, cancer protection, accident insurance, life insurance, and dental insurance.

FLEX Spending

The FSA is a pre-tax savings plan for unreimbursed medical or dependent (child or elderly) care expenses. WAH matches employee contributions into the medical plan up to $10/month for full time and $5/month for regular part-time employees.

PERA

Public Employee Retirement Association (PERA) is a mandatory retirement savings plan required because of WAH’s municipal status. Both WAH and the employee contribute to this retirement savings plan. As of 1/1/12, employees contribute 6.5% of their gross earnings and WAH contributes 7.5% of the employee’s gross earnings. Retirement benefits are based on years of service and your age at retirement.

MN State Deferred Compensation

MN State Deferred Compensation is a voluntary savings plan intended for long-term investing for retirement. This is comparable to a 401K but run through the state. Employees may contribute up to 50% of annual taxable income or $22,500 whichever is less. Employees over age 50 can contribute up to $30,000. Employees choose investment options, and pre- and after-tax (ROTH) options are available.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

The EAP is a confidential counseling service available to all employees and their family members. EAP services are contracted through VitalWorkLife Solutions. Contact 1-800-383-1908 for up to three (per incident, per family) free and confidential appointments.

Financing Clinic & Hospital Bills

WAH employees may designate funds to pay hospital/clinic bills through after-tax payroll deductions.

Wellness Center

All employees have free 24/7 access to the Wellness Center. Employees must purchase a key fob ($10) if they do not currently have one, and will need to use it each time they workout. Employees will get 20% off memberships for their spouse, or their household. Employees may have their spouse and household memberships paid through payroll deduction.

Physical Therapy Consultation

WAH employees may seek a complimentary evaluation from the Physical Therapy staff. Subsequent treatments for a medical concern must be ordered by a physician and will be charged as an outpatient procedure.

Personal Development Incentive Program

Windom Area Health encourages employees to seek out personal development opportunities. If an employee reads or listens to a book focusing on bettering themselves either personally or professionally, they can write a 3-paragraph essay to receive an extra $50 a book, per month.

Job Shadowing

Windom Area Health supports the development of local students interested in, or entering the healthcare industry. When possible, we will provide local students observation and job shadowing experiences upon request.
