Job Openings

Human Resources/Payroll Coordinator

Windom Area Health seeks a full time Human Resources/Payroll Coordinator. Primary responsibilities include preparing and processing payroll and coordinating benefits. This position is the main contact for managers and employees related to payroll, timecard, and benefit questions.  Creates regular and ad hoc reports for both HR and accounting purposes. An associates degree in business, HR, or related field required, bachelors degree preferred. At least 1+ yr experience in payroll and HR functions is required. Candidates must have professional tact and customer service skills, be extremely detail oriented, along with having advanced excel skills.

Registered Nurse (RN)

Windom Area Health has an opening for a .8 FTE Registered Nurse, who will provide patient care to our inpatient, OB, and ER departments. Experience preferred, but will train qualified applicants.  Position includes working 12 hr shifts every third weekend and holiday, as well as 8 hr weekday rotating shifts. Options for all 12 hour shifts may be available.

IT Technician

Windom Area Health is seeking a part time IT Technician. Responsibilities include computer and hardware set-up and maintenance, software updates, troubleshooting, addressing staff inquiries and submitting access requests. Will perform basic network functions, as well as configuring and maintaining phone server and devices.  Must have a minimum of a High school diploma.  Computer and networking skills preferred. Additional training/education in an IT field highly preferred but will train the right candidate. Experience in healthcare IT highly desirable.

Laboratory Manager

Windom Area Health is seeking a skilled individual to provide direction and leadership for the overall operation of the laboratory, including supervising staff in technical performance, laboratory operations and customer service. Must be graduate of an NAACLS approved school of Laboratory Science with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred. Must be registered by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or registry of equal status. Must stay current and apply the CLIA regulations to make sure the laboratory maintains CMS accreditation. Exempt status and candidate must be able to work varied hours. Three to five years leadership experience preferred.

Fitness Specialist/Group Fitness Instructor

We are seeking a flexible part-time group fitness instructor and wellness center employee. As a Group Fitness Instructor at Windom Area Health, you will have the opportunity to lead a variety energetic and motivational classes tailored to your expertise. You will also provide assistance to Wellness Center members and guests, check members into the system, process new member sign-ups and maintain the neatness and cleanliness of the facility. May assist with wellness department projects and special events.

Flexible part-time hours based on availability, typically between 8 am and 5 pm. Candidates must have excellent customer service skills, basic computer skills, health and fitness related knowledge and the ability to lift up to 25 lbs. Fitness certification preferred. Must obtain Basic Life Support certification within six months of hire.

Dietary Aide/Cook

Windom Area Health has openings for PT Dietary Aide/Cook scheduled approximately 8 hours a week. Duties include food preparation, cooking, dishwashing and departmental cleaning. Previous experience in food preparation is preferred. Excellent customer service and teamwork skills, ability to multi-task, be ambitious and self-directed. Position includes rotating am/pm shifts as well as rotating weekend and holidays (every 3rd) Flexible PT hour options available. Benefit eligible!

Community Health Worker

Windom Area Health is seeking a skilled individual that can use their unique understanding of the Hispanic language and culture to assist communities with care coordination by accessing and navigating the healthcare system successfully. The Community Health Worker is responsible for providing resources, referrals, social support, informal counseling, and advocating for individual and community health needs. High School Diploma or Equivalent required. Community Health Worker (CHW) Certification from an accredited program or must obtain within one year of hire. Excellent oral and written skills in English and Spanish required. Minimum one-year experience working to provide health education outreach to individuals. Experience working with immigrant or refugee populations.

Trabajador Comunitario de Salud

Windom Area Health está buscando una persona capacitada que pueda usar su comprensión única del idioma y la cultura hispana para ayudar a las comunidades con la coordinación de la atención al acceder y navegar por el sistema de atención médica con éxito. El trabajador de salud comunitario es responsable de proporcionar recursos, referencias, apoyo social, asesoramiento informal y abogar por las necesidades de salud individuales y comunitarias. Se requiere Diploma de Escuela Secundaria o Equivalente. Certificación de Trabajador de Salud Comunitario (CHW) de un programa acreditado o debe obtener dentro de un año de la contratación. Radiologic Technologist (PRN)

Windom Area Health seeks an ambitious Radiologic Technologist (RT) in our imaging department to perform exams including x-ray, CT, DEXA and fluoroscopy. Must be ARRT registered or registry eligible. Experience is preferred. As a PRN employee, shifts will be assigned as needed and may include days/evenings, call on weekends, holidays and evenings.

Weekend Package - Registered Nurse (RN)

Windom Area Health is seeking a RN that will work Friday (8 hr shift), Saturday & Sunday (12 hour shifts) for 5 of 6 weekends. Premium pay per hour for weekends. Full time benefits provided, ability to accrue and use PTO for weekend off. Ability to pick up additional shifts as desired. This position will provide patient care in our inpatient and ER departments. May occasionally provide support to outpatients, and eventually train to cover OB. Experience preferred, but will train qualified applicants. 

Growth & Development Coordinator

We are seeking an outgoing individual to drive market growth and visibility for various Windom Area Health services, focusing mainly on the Wound & Hyperbaric Healing Center. Promotes services to potential patients, facilities, and referral partners through personal visits, phone calls/emails, presentations and community events. 32 hours per week, flexible weekday hours, and may include evenings/weekends for events. Bachelors degree in marketing/communications, business or healthcare related field, with at least 2 years of sales experience, or an equivalent combination. Healthcare sales/promotion experience preferred. We offer a competitive salary and great benefit package!

Surgery Manager

Windom Area Health is seeking a full-time Surgery Manager to provide leadership for our surgery department.  This position leads the department’s clinical, operational and managerial activities to provide safe and effective patient care.  Bachelor’s degree in nursing required. A minimum of 5  years of OR experience required but would consider a combination of 3 years surgery experience with 2-3 years tertiary ICU and/or ER experience. A minimum of two years of proven healthcare leadership required. Must be willing to fill in for on-call after hours, holidays, and weekends and respond within designated time when needs require. 

Benefit Summary

Paid Time Off (PTO) Time off with pay is accrued for personal (vacation, holiday, illness, or other) needs. PTO accumulates from the date of hire and may be used only after the Orientation period is complete. A limit of 320 hours can be carried at any time. Once an employee reaches that level, they will stop accruing PTO until time is used. For purposes of the table below, one year of service is the equivalent of 2,080 hours paid.

Sick Leave Bank

Accrued bank of hours to be used for illness related to you or an eligible family member, lasting 2 or more days. Sick bank hours accumulate based on hours paid and can be carried over with a maximum accrual of 960 hours. The accrual rate is .0192 per hour paid. Sick Leave Bank hours may not be used until the Orientation period is complete.

Bereavement Leave

Full-time and regular part-time employees are eligible to receive bereavement leave. Days provided differ based on family relationship.

Holiday Pay

Time and one-half (1 ½) an employee’s regular rate of pay will be paid to any employee working on a designated holiday observance including New Year’s Day (1/1), Good Friday, Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, Independence Day (7/4), Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day (12/25).

Health Insurance

Windom Area Health provides health insurance through Medica. Coverage options include single, single + spouse, single + child(ren) and family coverage. WAH pays 75% – 80% of the total premium for full-time employees and regular part-time employees. Full-time employees are eligible for health insurance on the first day of the month following 30 days of employment. Part-time employees are eligible on the first day of the month following 60 days of employment. Open enrollment occurs once each year (normally in November).

Dental Insurance

Windom Area Health provides 100% of the cost of dental insurance for full-time employees.  Employees are able to 'buy up' for family members or for richer dental plan coverage. FT employees are eligible on the first of the month after 30 days.

Vision Insurance

Windom Area Health provides vision insurance through EyeMed. Coverage options include employee, employee + 1, employee + children and family coverage.  Full time employees are eligible for vision insurance on the first day of the month following 30 days of employment.  Part time employees are eligible on the first day of the month following 60 days of employment.

Life Insurance

Life insurance options are provided through Hartford. Employees have a guaranteed issue of $100,000 and can obtain up to $300,000 of coverage based on medical underwriting. Spouse and dependent coverage is also available. Costs vary depending on age and amount elected.

Supplemental Insurance

AFLAC provides a variety of insurance options. AFLAC insurance options include, but are not limited to, short-term disability, cancer protection, accident insurance, life insurance, and dental insurance.

FLEX Spending

The FSA is a pre-tax savings plan for unreimbursed medical or dependent (child or elderly) care expenses. WAH matches employee contributions into the medical plan up to $10/month for full time and $5/month for regular part-time employees.

Legal/ID Shield

A legal assistance and identify theft protection plans are offered (separate or together) at the employee’s cost for part-time and full-time staff.


Public Employee Retirement Association (PERA) is a mandatory retirement savings plan required because of WAH’s municipal status. Both WAH and the employee contribute to this retirement savings plan. As of 1/1/12, employees contribute 6.5% of their gross earnings and WAH contributes 7.5% of the employee’s gross earnings. Retirement benefits are based on years of service and your age at retirement.

MN State Deferred Compensation

Employees may contribute up to 50% of annual taxable income or $18,000 whichever is less. Employees over age 50 can contribute even more. Employees choose investment options, and pre- and after-tax options are available.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

The EAP is a confidential counseling service available to all employees and their family members. EAP services are contracted through VitalWorkLife Solutions. Contact 1-800-383-1908 for up to three (per incident, per family) free and confidential appointments.

Financing Clinic & Hospital Bills

WAH employees may designate funds to pay hospital/clinic bills through after-tax payroll deductions.

Wellness Center

Employees receive a 20% discount on memberships. Employees may have their membership paid through payroll deduction. Employee members that use the center 12 times per month will receive reimbursement either through insurance or the fitness center.

Physical Therapy Consultation

WAH employees may seek a complimentary evaluation from the Physical Therapy staff. Subsequent treatments for a medical concern must be ordered by a physician and will be charged as an outpatient procedure.

Job Shadowing

Windom Area Health supports the development of local students interested in, or entering the healthcare industry. When possible, we will provide local students observation and job shadowing experiences upon request.
