Mobile Digital X-Rays: Improving the Patient Experience
Samsung Mobile X-Ray Machine

At Windom Area Health Imaging, we put our patients first. Each patient has specific needs and whether it’s something minor or something major, we take care of them. Sometimes the use of x-ray imaging is required to identify how to help. One of the tools we have to provide better care for our patients is a portable state-of-the-art digital x-ray machine to produce high quality images.

In some cases, our patients are not able to be moved to x-ray rooms to have their imaging done. This is where the latest in mobile imaging is essential to meet that need. We often utilize our Samsung mobile x-ray unit to bring the imaging to them and prevent further disturbance to the area of an injury.

Samsung’s mobile x-ray uses state-of-the-art technology to enhance x-rays, which can be instantly displayed on screen for the provider to see and diagnose. The machine also has some additional features to help us provide improved care for our patients. Radiology Technologists can digitally alter the picture to better assist providers, which can be useful for: placing chest tubes, nasal gastric tubes or identifying other abnormalities. In addition, our equipment has the ability to digitally remove the ribs from an x-ray to better visualize underlying structures.

The mobile unit can be fully controlled from an overhead extendable x-ray tube, which produces the x-ray beam. This includes controls to move the machine forward, reverse, left, right etc. all from the opposite side of the bed. The Radiology Tech can quickly and efficiently acquire x-rays, while minimally moving the patient to lessen discomfort and possible aggravation of an injury.

We do our best to provide a great patient experience and provide quality x-rays here at the Windom Area Health Imaging and our Samsung mobile digital x-ray has been a key part of that.
