Wound & Hyperbaric Healing Center Receives ‘Center of Distinction’ Award

Windom, MN (August 1, 2020) – The Wound & Hyperbaric Healing Center (WHHC) at Windom Area Health is pleased to announce the recipient of the Center of Distinction award for 2019 presented by Healogics®, the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services. The WHHC achieved outstanding clinical outcomes for twelve consecutive months, including an exceptional healing rate, typical medial days to heal rate, and excellent patient satisfaction. Over 601 Centers were eligible for the Center of Distinction award, with 367 achieving the honor.

“Our Center is here to take care of all types of wounds by utilizing the advanced technologies in wound care. We pride ourselves in taking care of each patient and their wound individually,” states Nikkie Steffensen, WHHC Program Director. “By doing this, we can help patients achieve healing quickly and return to their everyday lives.”

The WHHC is a member of the Healogics network of over 600 Wound Care Centers® with proven experience in healing approximately 2.5 million chronic wounds. WHHC offers highly specialized wound care to patients suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections, and other chronic wounds that have not been healed in a reasonable amount of time. Leading-edge treatments at the Center include negative pressure wound therapy, total contact casting, bio-engineered tissues, biosynthetic dressings, and growth factor therapies. The Center also offers hyperbaric oxygen therapy for treatment for wound care, infections, and radiation injuries.

In honor of receiving the 2019 Center of Distinction Award, WHHC will be hosting a drive-thru Pie and Ice Cream Celebration to be held Thursday, September 3, from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at Cottonwood Lake, Tegals Park Shelter in Windom, MN for patients, patient families and community members. Staff and providers will be distributing a variety of mini pies, ice cream, and bottled water from 1:30-2:30 p.m. or while supplies last. Participants will be asked to please remain inside their vehicle and wait for a WHHC staff member to serve you.
