Expansion & Transitions at Windom Area Health

There are a lot of moving parts and excitement taking place right now at Windom Area Health, with the new Medical Building just opening on June 2nd. This will allow for continued growth and expansion of services to best serve as a regional center of care.

As with any change, there will be some growing pains, but Windom Area Health wants to make this transition as smoothly as possible for the surrounding communities. The Outreach & Surgical Center will remain in its current location, which can be accessed by entering the Hospital entrance and can be reached at 507-831-2400. These services include, but not limited to: Orthopedic Surgery, Cardiology, Ophthalmology, and Vascular.

The new Medical Building will include Sanford Health Clinics, Windom Area Health Specialty Clinics, and the Wellness Center. To reach the Windom Area Health Specialty Clinics, please call 507-831-2500. These services will include, but not limited to: General Surgery, OB/GYN, Urology, Orthopedic services, foot care, Occupational Medicine, Pain Management, Integrative Health, Mental Health, Psychiatry, and more.

Along with expansion comes some transitions. Dr. Stormont, who has been providing Urology services and surgery at Windom Area Health, is planning to relocate. We are very thankful and appreciative of Dr. Stormont’s time and expertise that he has provided patients within this region. We wish him all the best and continued success. With his departure in the coming months, Windom Area Health will continue to provide urologic services with Lori Fett, CNP. Lori comes with an extensive background and keen experience in urologic services, which is a valued resource for this region. In addition, we are actively recruiting a Urologist to continue to provide high quality urology services within this region.

Dr. Hinshaw, OB/GYN and a Lt. Colonel with the Army Reserve for the past six years, has been called to serve from late June through October. We’re honored to have Dr. Hinshaw be a part of the Windom Area Health team, as well appreciate his service. Understanding a significant need for OB/GYN services in this region, conversations are underway to not only fill the gap during his absence, but to focus on additional OB/GYN services to compliment Dr. Hinshaw’s experience.

Don’t forget to come join the community for the Medical Building Open House on June 19th from 2:30 – 5:30 PM. Refreshments provided, as well as an opportunity to receive guided tours and to meet members of the Windom Area Health team.
