Windom Area Health is thrilled to announce Jenny Hartberg, LPN, as our third DAISY Award Honoree!
Here is the Nomination submitted for Jenny:
“Very helpful, smiles and very kind. Knows what you need.”
“She came in on her day off to do a teleconference for my father. She was so kind and helpful.”
“My mom was placed under hospice care while at Windom Area Health. My mom had many wonderful nurses taking care of her, but Jenny really stood out. She was very compassionate and made sure mom was as comfortable as could be. She made sure she was clean and would talk to her even though mom was no longer able to communicate with us anymore. Jenny was there for our family during one of the hardest times in our lives. I know she has made such a difference in many families over her career!”
Receiving the Award
Jenny was presented with an Honoree pin, a copy of her nomination, a beautiful, one of a kind, hand carved Healer’s Touch sculpture from Zimbabwe, and a certificate portfolio on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, surrounded by family, colleagues, and hospital leadership. There were cinnamon rolls for everyone, as well as punch and coffee as Jenny was announced as the Honoree and her nomination was read aloud to the group.
What is the DAISY Award?
The DAISY Award program is the first of its kind that allows patients, families and co-workers a way to honor and thank the nurses that have made a positive impact on them by showing compassion and kindness during their time spent at the hospital. The DAISY Foundation was founded in 1999 by the family of Patrick Barnes as a way to thank the nurses that took extraordinary care of him during his time of need and made an impact on the family with their kindness and compassion. The DAISY Foundation is now an internationally recognized non-profit organization honoring exceptional nurses everywhere. They are present in 6500+ healthcare organizations and across 40+ nations and territories. All Nominees for the DAISY Award receive a DAISY pin as recognition for their kindness and compassion shown. From the nominations received, a blind voting system is used for choosing the DAISY Award recipient. The voting committee is made up of volunteers outside of the hospital, employees and leadership.
How to Nominate
Submit your nominations for the next DAISY Award celebration! The DAISY Award program at WAH offers different ways to nominate a nurse: a handwritten encounter or story on a DAISY nomination form that can be found by the front entrance or the Wound Care Center or by filling out and submitting an online form found at https://windomareahealth.org/daisy-award-nomination-form/.
Congratulations again to Jenny for this well-deserved honor!
