The role of the laboratory is to perform blood and body fluid studies that assist in the diagnosis of disease of nearly every body system. These studies have normal values that help the physicians determine a diagnosis for the patient. The lab is dedicated to assisting physicians in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention disease by using skilled staff and state of the art equipment, to produce accurate results.
Windom Area Health's Laboratory Department employs a team with a combined total of 90 years of practical service and all of the team members are certified laboratorians. Lab services include hematology, coagulation, chemistry, blood gas, urinalysis, microbiology, and blood banking.
Direct Access Laboratory Testing
Windom Area Health offers Direct Access Laboratory Testing, giving you the freedom to order several lab tests quickly, conveniently and confidentially without visiting the doctor. All testing is done in our accredited laboratory and performed by the laboratory staff at Windom Area Health. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian (with the exception of a pregnancy test). You choose if you want them in your electronic medical record.
Direct Access Laboratory Testing was developed to help you monitor certain ongoing health risks or to assess the potential for health risks. The tests are a helpful tool but should not be used as a substitute to visiting your doctor on a regular basis.
The testing is offered pay-for service, insurance is not billed and payment is required at the time of service. We accept all major credit cards.

Monday through Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
