New Colorful Crosswalk at Windom Area Health

Users of the Be Well Path at Windom Area Health will have noticed a colorful new update – the crosswalk!  Two weeks ago, the final green and blue blocks were put into place across Hospital Drive as part of an ongoing effort to maximize safety and add even more color to the Path.  The Be Well Path is used by community members of all ages and by adding the unique design to the main hospital driveway Windom Area Health is looking to promote a fun and safe experience for trail users.  It will also aid in drawing more attention from those driving along the road, further adding to the safety of pedestrians who enjoy the Path.

Emily Masters, Chief Human Relations Office at Windom Area Health notes, “The creative crosswalk is something we have had in mind since the path was built back in 2017. Not only does it enhance the safety of the employees, families and community using the path, but it enlivens the area and represents the culture and branding of Windom Area Health.”

This crosswalk was made possible through a grant from Community Wellness Partners (CWP) of Jackson, Cottonwood, and Nobles County.  CWP is dedicated to assisting with projects that help Minnesotans live longer, healthier lives by building opportunities that encourage healthy living in Cottonwood, Jackson, and Nobles counties.

With their help, Windom Area Health was able to enhance the Be Well Path for the benefit of community members who use it – and not just with the improved crosswalk. The grant was also used to purchase a bench that will offer a rest area and gathering space along the Path.  This Tete-a-Tete bench is planned to be placed on the corner of the Be Well Path by the pond.  In addition, this bench is a part of the Windom Area Health Foundation’s Tranquility Garden project.  The bench will be accompanied by a magnolia tree and, if enough funds are raised, there will be an entire flower bed surrounding it with colorful Coneflowers, Mini Mauvette Hydrangeas, Autumn Fire Sedum, and Reedgrass.

Windom Area Health is committed to making the Be Well Path as safe and enjoyable as possible for all community members.  With the generous grant from CWP, the crosswalk and bench will enhance the experience and create a more accessible space to all.  Come visit the Be Well Path to see the new and improved crosswalk and keep an eye out in the future for the placement of the Tete-a-Tete bench as part of the Tranquility Garden project!
