The Windom Area Hospital Foundation was established in 2002 with a mission of providing charitable support for the medical and educational programs of Windom Area Hospital, apart from normal operating expenses. In keeping with this mission, the Windom Area Hospital Foundation will once again be offering several $1,000 continuing education scholarships to local students who are interested in pursuing a career in a healthcare field.
Scholarships will be awarded based on leadership, character, integrity, community service, and a commitment to following a course of study relevant to healthcare. Students must have a GPA of 3.0, OR be officially accepted into a healthcare program in order to be eligible for the scholarships. Recipients may apply for scholarships in subsequent years, as the foundation intends to continue the program in the future.
This year, we are again partnering with the Sanford Health Network for an additional scholarship opportunity. Select recipients of the Windom Area Hospital Foundation scholarships will have their application forwarded on to Sanford Health for consideration for an additional $1,000 scholarship. There are separate criteria for the Sanford portion of the scholarship, including being admitted to a healthcare program and having a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0. Applicants may apply for the Windom scholarship regardless of their eligibility for the Sanford scholarship.
Students who are selected for the scholarships will be asked to submit a photograph for use in future newsletters and marketing materials.Â
The postmarked deadline for application is Friday, March 10th, 2017.  Applications are available under the Foundation section of the Windom Area Hospital website at www.windomareahospital.com. For more information on the scholarships, contact Emily Masters at 831-0625.
