Windom Area Health is pleased to have Julie Brugman continue as Mountain Lake’s Advisory Member to the Governing Board. Julie joined the Board in an advisory capacity in October 2007.
As an Advisory Member, Julie represents the community of Mountain Lake in matters of healthcare at Windom Area Health. As Advisory Member, Julie may vote on any committee issues, but does not hold a voting position for formal Governing Board votes. Because hers is a non-voting position, no term limit has been placed on her role — a fact she sees as an asset to the Board. “I think my past experience on the board has given new members a resource for things that have happened in the past,” Julie says.
“I thought it would be interesting to become more informed about the working side of the hospital and to keep communication flowing between Mountain Lake residents and the hospital,” says Julie. “I feel as though everyone should look for ways in which to serve their community.” Included in Julie’s goals while she serves as the Advisory Member are to bring an outside view of how people beyond Windom perceive the hospital, and to be a positive liaison and voice for her community, because “a strong relationship between the community of Mountain Lake and Windom Area Health is beneficial for all concerned.”
Julie grew up on a farm south of Mountain Lake and married Dennis, and the two stayed in Mountain Lake to raise their family. They have two children, Jordan (Sonia) Brugman and Crystal (Jesse) Fast, and have been blessed with seven grandsons ranging in age from 6 to 21: Mason, Maxton, Micah, and Mereck Fast, and Logan, Landon, and Layton Brugman. After a career in banking, Julie now stays busy attending her grandsons’ sporting events — football, basketball, golf, and baseball — and serving on the Mountain Lake Area Public School board, where she has been a member for over 24 years. Fun fact: Julie has directed 18 full-length musicals and 31 one-act plays at Mountain Lake High School.
