Healthcare added 24,400 jobs in April, with hospitals contributing 8,000 to that total, according to the latest jobs report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
This compares to the 22,400 jobs the industry added the month prior.
Ambulatory healthcare services showed the most employment growth in healthcare last month, adding 16,900 jobs. Hospitals added 8,000 jobs in April compared to the 9,900 they added in March. Nursing and residential care facilities lost 500 jobs last month.
Overall, healthcare has added 305,000 jobs over the year, according to the BLS.
In total, the U.S. added 164,000 jobs in April.
