SUMMARY:La Tortuga Powerman Challenge 2020
DESCRIPTION:Join us this year for the La Tortuga Powerman 2020! This is a fun\, on-your-own duathlon challenge being organized by the Windom Area Health Wellness Center. This challenge will run from June 15th to July 24th with challengers completing 20k in walking/running and 60k in biking over the course of that time! It’s a fun challenge for individuals or families (though each member has to complete the distance individually to successfully finish the challenge to get the prize!) \nThis event will be organized via e-mail. Simply contact us at Lindsey.Englar@SanfordHealth.org to get registered and you will then receive your tracking forms to fill out as you complete distances. In addition\, you will receive weekly newsletters over the course of the challenge that will share health and wellness tips as well as some fun trivia! Deadline to register is June 12th at 5:00pm. \nWhen: June 15th – July 24th\nWhat: Duathlon Powerman – Complete 20k walking/running and 60k biking within the 6-week time frame. You can walk/run on a path or a treadmill for the running portion and use either a bicycle or an indoor cycle machine for the biking portion.\nRequirements: You will be tracking your distances throughout the challenge. DESCRIPTION:This is a 4-week program (6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday evenings) covering labor and delivery patterns\, possible unexpected outcomes\, pain management techniques\, breastfeeding\, the importance of nutrition and exercise\, and tips on caring for a newborn.\n\n\nThe Prenatal Education Series is taught by a Registered Nurse who has been educated through the Sanford Prenatal Center and is a Certified Lamaze Instructor. The series educates parents on what to expect during the birthing experience and how to care for a child. Classes cover a variety of topics including nutrition\, stages of labor\, breathing techniques\, cesarean births\, birthing complications\, breastfeeding\, the importance of exercise\, a tour of the Birth Place\, and basic safety and child care issues. DESCRIPTION:Windom Law Enforcement/EMS and the Windom Fire Department will once again be competing to see who can recruit the most blood donors for the community’s blood supply in the 15th annual “Heroes Behind the Badges” community blood drive. \nThe drive will be held on Monday\, September 14th from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. and 3:00p.m.-6:30 p.m. at Windom Area Health. Community Blood Bank’s bloodmobile will be on-site to take the donations near the main entrance. Each donor designates their donation to the ‘team’ of their choice! \nDue to COVID-19\, CBB is only able to take 7 donors per hour to allow for cleaning policies and proper social distancing. SUMMARY:Tammy Hall Golf and Corn Hole Tournament
DESCRIPTION:Make sure to join in on 10 Years of Something Good on Saturday\, September 19th! There will be a Golf Tournament at the Windom Country Club or try your hand at the Corn Hole Tournament at the Windom Arena parking lot. \nCorn Hole Tournament: $60/team – to register contact Jake Mischke at 507-360-2263.  Registration starts at 12:00pm and the tournament begins at 1:00pm.  40% payouts to 1st\, 2nd\, and 3rd place teams. \nGolf Tournament: $50/person – to register call or text 507-822-6291.  Registration starts at 11:30am and tee off is at 12:30pm.  1st place team wins $200\, 2nd place team wins $150\, and 3rd place team wins $100.  This year\, there is also a Pinkout Your Cart competition\, so bring your pink and be ready to deck out your golf cart! \nRegistration fees for either event includes a Tammy Hall Breast Health 10th Year Walk Shirt\, a meal by Hy Vee in Windom being served at the Windom Arena Parking Lot\, and a wristband to see The Nectarines/Jason Dewall Band playing that evening from 7:30pm-11:30pm in the Arena Parking Lot supported by the Windom Lions Club.  If you would like to see the band\, but don’t want to register for Corn Hole or the Golf Tournament\, there is a $5 cover charge at the door.
