DESCRIPTION:Windom Law Enforcement/EMS and the Windom Fire Department will once again be competing to see who can recruit the most blood donors for the community’s blood supply in the 14th annual “Heroes Behind the Badges” community blood drive. \nThe drive will be held on Monday\, September 16th from 11:30 a.m-1:30 p.m. and 3:00-7:00 p.m. at Windom Area Health. Community Blood Bank’s bloodmobile will be on-site to take the donations near the main entrance. Each donor designates their donation to the ‘team’ of their choice\, plus receive a FREE t-shirt for donating!

DESCRIPTION:These classes are intended for people with hypertension\, pre-diabetes or in need of some weight loss help. Each week there will be a new topic for discussion. Also included with the classes are 30 minute activities\, 1:1 dietitian support and a membership to the Wellness Center for the duration of the class. Class is limited to 12 participants and cost is $50. Please park by the Main Entrance of the hospital and all classes will be held in the Windom Area Health Large Conference Room \n**New this year: Win a 6-month membership to the Wellness Center! SUMMARY:Tammy Hall Breast Health Walk
DESCRIPTION:Support your community and local breast health! The annual Tammy Hall Breast Health Walk is on October 12\, 2019\, with 5k and 1-mile walk options are available. Proceeds go to Windom Area Health Foundation’s Women’s Health Fund\, which provides community education and financial support to patients undergoing cancer or breast health treatments. Past walks have helped fund the purchase of digital mammography equipment for Windom Area Health and several donations to support local breast health patients. Your event fee covers the walk\, a long-sleeve event shirt and brunch at Jack Slades. Other opportunities to support the event include raffle ticket sales and prize drawing tickets at brunch. Returning in 2019 – Dress in your CRAZIEST pink outfit\, face paint\, tutus\, etc.! Winners of the best PINK PRIDE will be awarded a prize at the program. In 2014 the walk was renamed to honor co-founder\, Tammy Hall\, who passed away from breast cancer in January 2014. Tammy’s dedication and energy will never be forgotten! DESCRIPTION:This is a 5-week program (6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday evenings) covering labor and delivery patterns\, possible unexpected outcomes\, pain management techniques\, breastfeeding\, the importance of nutrition and exercise\, and tips on caring for a newborn. \nThe Prenatal Education Series is taught by a Registered Nurse who has been educated through the Sanford Prenatal Center and is a Certified Lamaze Instructor. The series educates parents on what to expect during the birthing experience and how to care for a child. Classes cover a variety of topics including nutrition\, stages of labor\, breathing techniques\, cesarean births\, birthing complications\, breastfeeding\, the importance of exercise\, a tour of the Birth Place\, and basic safety and child care issues.
