SUMMARY:23rd Annual Vickie Schendel Fun Run
DESCRIPTION:The Vickie Schendel Memorial Fun Run is BACK for its 23rd year and still running strong! This year’s events offer something fun for the ENTIRE family with our traditional 5K walk/run\, 1-mile run\, and half-pint hustle events PLUS free kids’ activities and challenges! All events are slated to start and finish at Island Park to help kick off Riverfest 2019. Course stations will include color stations\, a bubble station\, and a silly string station to keep your route fresh\, fun\, and family-oriented. Help us make our 23rd year the best year yet! \nWe’ll also be offering a FREE STRONG by Zumba warm-up led by our Wellness Center instructor Jenn Fast beginning at 8:45 am. Be sure to catch this awesome new workout style guarantee to get you pumped up for our 5K Walk/Run event! \nAll funds raised from the Fun Run will go into the Vickie Schendel Memorial Fund. Vickie was a dedicated Nurse Practitioner at Hartberg Medical Clinic and a compassionate member of Windom Area Health’s medical staff. She was diagnosed with cancer and fought bravely throughout her treatments but lost her battle in 1997. Windom Area Health is proud to honor Vickie’s memory through our annual Fun Run and by offering patient education opportunities to our communities through the Vickie Schendel Memorial Fund. To date\, funds from this memorial fund have offered topics such as lactation education for new mothers\, car seat safety education for parents\, and diabetes prevention and disease management. \nYou can register online at runsignup.com/FunRun2019 or using one of our paper registration forms found on our brochures and in the Citizen. Registration/Check-In for your event opens 15 minutes before your race starts. We’ll see you on the 8th!
